CACTUS MAN TRIATHLON

Please take some time to read the Cactus Man Athlete Guide. This race has a lot of detail and it is important that you familiarize yourself with our registration process, the race site, event flow, courses and our Coved safety protocols.

SAFETY DETAILS
1. In order to keep the number of people onsite to those that need to be there, we respectfully request NO SPECTATORS. We will have photographers on course, and at the finish to capture your race day.
2. FACE MASKS MUST BE WORN BY ALL ATTENDEES AT ALL TIMES. A disposable mask will be in your
race packet and should be worn to the start line. You may remove your mask and place it in the trash
can at the start line right before you are directed to enter the water. Face masks will be available at the
finish line and should be put on immediately.
3. Please adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times
4. Hand sanitizer stations throughout venue
5. Results will be posted online at the conclusion of the event
6. Upon finishing, please remove your own timing chip and place it in the buckets of bleach. Masks will also be available at the finish line and should be put on as soon as possible after finishing. After you are done please gather your belongings and proceed to your vehicle. Have a safe drive home and thanks for racing with us

4 Peaks Racing is working closely with the City of Tempe as we continue planning for the Cactus Man 2021. We are greatly encouraged by the sharp decrease in COVID-19 numbers and keep a very close eye on city, county, and state metrics.

Specific details will be coming soon regarding our mitigation strategies for COVID-19, site layout, and race courses.

AQUA BIKE
Aqua Bike athletes will start with the corresponding wave and complete the swim and bike only. Final time will be calculated at BIKE IN. Once you have finished please rack your bike, put a mask on and make your way to the finish line at your leisure to collect your medal, grab a drink and return your timing chip.

If you place top 3 in your age group or category please swing by Moxie to pick up your award and get a photo on the podium

If you are a USA Triathlon member please have proof of membership
You are not allowed to pick up packets for other people

USA TRIATHLON
Cactus Man is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT), the governing body of multisport in North America. One of the many roles played by USAT is that of insurance provider for this race. As such USAT requires that every participant be either (1) an annual member, or (2) purchase a one day membership.

Athletes to be staged by event, then by swim time. Each staging area will have spray chalk X’s on the ground to keep athletes 6 feet apart
1. Olympic: <29 minutes 2. Olympic: 29 to 32 minutes 3. Olympic: 33 to 36 minutes 4. Olympic: > 37 minutes
5. Sprint: <18 minutes 6. Sprint: 19 to 21 minutes 7. Sprint: 22 to 24 minutes 8. Sprint: > 25 minutes

CLICK HERE for water temp. We will be following USA Triathlon’s guidelines for wetsuit use. Wetsuits use is allowed when water temperature is 78 or under. Age group athletes can use at wetsuit when water temperature is 78-84 but would not be eligible to awards

Overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the Sprint and Olympic distance.
Age group awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the Sprint and Olympic distance per the following age groups:

RACE TIMING
This event is timed using equipment by RFID Timing Systems. All participants need to wear a timing chip around their ankle with the Velcro strap provided. The chips are reusable and need to be returned after the event. These chips are the athlete’s responsibility and missing chips will be charged to the athletes.
