As you are probably aware, it rained quite a bit in Tempe today. Tempe has received more than .2 inches of rain. When this happens, the lake must be retested before allowing anyone in the water. Unfortunately, the testing takes 24 hours to complete after a rain.

This means that we are unable to swim in Tempe Town Lake tomorrow. The XTERRA Rockhopper Triathlon with proceed as a duathlon. The bike course will remain the same while the two-loop run will be split into two one loop runs bookending the bike.

While we know that you are disappointed that the swim will not be part of the race, 4 Peaks Racing will do our best to make lemonade out of this situation. We look forward to having fun with you tomorrow morning!

INTRODUCTION
It’s time to grab your mountain bike and tear up the trails in Papago Park at XTERRA Rock Hopper, a truly urban triathlon in Tempe Town Lake. This 1000m swim, 13 mile bike and 3.5 mile trail run will offer a challenge to all levels of triathlete. Athletes that participate in this event will have opportunity to earn points towards the 2019 XTERRA National Championship. Finisher medals for all participants!

TRIATHLON AWARDS

RACE TIMING
This event will be chip timed by 4 Peaks Racing using triathlon chips that need to be returned. Results will be available live at the results kiosk on a big screen TV.

XTERRA Rock Hopper will be held at the Special Event Ramp, on the north side of the lake between Mill and Rural.
Parking at Tempe Marina will be limited this weekend. Parking will be available at:

XTERRA Rock Hopper is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT), the governing body of multisport in North America. One of the many roles played by USAT is that of insurance provider for this race. As such USAT requires that every participant be either (1) an annual member and provide proof of membership at packet pick up, or (2) purchase a one day membership at packet pick up.
