Welcome to The 5th Iceman Road & Off-road Triathlon!! Iceman truly has a little something for everyone with options in both the road and off-road triathlon, aquabike, duathlon, SUP/kayak division and a 5km run. In 2024 Iceman will be part of the USA Triathlon Gravel Series with the opportunity to qualify for USA Triathlon Cross Worlds in 2025.

USA TRIATHLON CROSS WORLDS 2025
There are two paths to qualify for 2025 Cross Worlds as part of Team USA
1. Qualify from a national championship race as top 35% of your age group
2. Generate ranking points, from events such as Iceman, as become eligible to claim unfilled Team USA spots

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24
By 7:30 a.m. we would like to have all athletes onsite. At that time the road from the entry station to the boat ramp will be closed to inbound traffic. Vehicles may leave at any time but please be aware cyclists and runners will be on the road.
6:30 a.m. Packet and timing chip pick up at Lake Pleasant 4 lane boat ramp
7:45 a.m. Registration closes
7:50 a.m. All kayak/SUP athletes begin (in water Start)
7:55 a.m. Duathlons and runs begins
8:00 a.m. Off-Road Iceman Triathlon and Aquabike time trial start – RED swim caps
8:05 a.m. Iceman Road Triathlon and Aquabike time trial start – BLACK or BLUE swim caps
10:00 a.m. Off-Road awards ceremony
10:15 a.m. Road awards ceremony
10:30 a.m. Must have started the run

PACKET PICK UP
Photo ID required to pick up race packet
If you are a USA Triathlon member please have proof of membership
You have to pick up your race packet in person (no one can pick up yours and you cannot pick up for anyone else)
Each member of a relay team must check in but the whole does not have to pick up their packets together

Please note that on race day there is a $7 fee to enter Lake Pleasant Regional Park

SITE PLAN

COURSES
SWIM

Expect the water temp to be in the low to mid 50s. Per USA Triathlon wetsuits, neoprene caps and neoprene boots are allowed. USA Triathlon has granted us a rules amendment to allow neoprene gloves, provided they are not webbed. We will follow the USA Triathlon guidelines for water temperature.
If the water temp is 54 and above swim will proceed as planned
If water temp is 50-54 swim will be shortened to 400m
If water temp is below 50 event will become a duathlon

TRANSITION
Swim in/Bike in at east end (end closest to the lake)
Bike out/Run out at west end
Rack bike according to race number.
The ground in transition is on the rough side. Feel free to leave flip flops at swim exit

ROAD BIKE
In order to reduce the amount of traffic on the roads we will be blocking traffic from entering the race course. We will still be allowing local and business traffic to access Castle Hot Springs Road.
STAY RIGHT! Share the road. Exercise caution

No water stations. Athletes to self-support on bike
Follow BIKE signs (yellow sign with black lettering) and follow instructions of staff and/or MCSO
Two loop out and back toward Carefree Highway. Turn around
1. Castle Hot Springs Rd ~3.5 miles from north boat ramp
2. At 4 lane boat ramp entry station

Please ride very cautiously from the entry station down the hill to the boat ramp. This section of road will also have runners

OFF-ROAD BIKE
In order to reduce the amount of traffic on the roads we will be blocking traffic from entering the race course. We will still be allowing local and business traffic to access Castle Hot Springs Road. Furthermore, people may be camping in the area and not realize there is a race in progress. Please ride with caution at all times.

One loop out and back up Castle Hot Springs Rd. Turn around on Castle Hot Springs Rd 6.2 miles from north boat ramp

ROAD RUN

Follow RUN signs (yellow sign with black lettering) and follow instructions of staff and/or MCSO

OFF-ROAD RUN

Follow OFF-ROAD RUN signs (white sign with red lettering) and follow instructions of staff and/or MCSO

AQUABIKE
Final time for aquabike participants will be calculated at BIKE IN. Once you have finished please make your way to the finish line in your own time to collect your medal, grab a drink and return your timing chip.

TIMING
This event will be chip timed by 4 Peaks Racing using triathlon chips. Lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete. Results will be available live at the results kiosk on a big screen TV. Chips should be worn on your left ankle and must be returned at the finish.
