No bones about it, this is a tough race! Come out and test yourself against at the 4th Annual Castle Creek Triathlon. The Castle Creek Triathlon offers a sprint and Olympic distance triathlon and aquabike in addition to sprint duathlon for individuals. Want to split the load? For teams we offer an Olympic and sprint distance relay.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7
5:00 a.m. Packet and timing chip pick up
All swim waves are a rolling start (with the exception of NCAA waves)
6:30 a.m. Men’s wave – Olympic triathlon and aquabike (Grey swim cap)
6:35 a.m. Women’s and relay’s wave – Olympic triathlon and aquabike (Grey swim cap)
6:40 a.m. Sprint duathlon begins
6:40 a.m. NCAA Men (Red swim cap)
6:42 a.m. NCAA Women (Pink swim cap)
6:45 a.m. Men’s Wave – Sprint triathlon and aquabike (Blue swim cap)
6:50 a.m. Women’s and relay’s wave – Sprint triathlon and aquabike (Blue swim cap)
7:45 a.m. Must have started the bike
9:00 a.m. No new bike laps
9:00 a.m. NCAA and Sprint awards
9:30 a.m. Must have started run
10:00 a.m. Olympic awards
10:15 a.m. Must be on second loop of the run

At 6:30 a.m. the road from the entry station to the boat ramp will be closed to inbound traffic. Vehicles may leave at any time but please be aware cyclists and runners will be on the road.

PARKING
Remember there is a $7 entry fee per vehicle to enter Lake Pleasant Regional Park. Please have exact change.

PACKET PICK UP
Photo ID required to pick up race packet
If you are a USA Triathlon member please have proof of membership
You have to pick up your race packet in person (no one can pick up yours and you cannot pick up for anyone else)
Each member of a relay team must check in but the whole does not have to pick up their packets together

WETSUIT USE GUIDELINES
USAT rules state that competitors may wear wetsuits if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower.
USAT rules also state that if the water temperature is between 78.1 – 83.9 degrees, competitors may wear wetsuits but will not be eligible for awards.
If the water temperature is 84 degrees or above, participants may NOT wear wetsuits.

COURSE CUT OFFS
There are three cut offs for The Castle Creek Triathlon.
1) You must have started the bike by 7:45 a.m.
2) You must start the run by 9:30 a.m.
3) You must be on the second loop of the run by 10:15 a.m.

SITE PLAN

SWIM

Sprint = 1 loop. Olympic = 2 loops
Keep buoys on your left

TRANSITION
Swim in/Bike in at east end (end closest to the lake)
Bike out/Run out at west end
The ground in transition is on the rough side. Feel free to leave flip flops at swim exit

BIKE

No water stations. Athletes to self-support on bike
Traffic is restricted but road not completely closed to traffic. STAY RIGHT! Share the road. Exercise caution
Please ride very cautiously from the entry station down the hill to the boat ramp. This section of road will also have runners
Out and back toward Carefree Highway
Follow instructions of staff and/or MCSO
Sprint = 2 loop. Olympic = 4 loops
Turn around
1. Castle Hot Springs Rd 3.95 miles from north boat ramp
2. Four lane boat ramp entry station

RUN

Sprint = 1 loop. Olympic = 2 loops
Follow instructions of staff and/or MCSO
Water station at turn around points

AQUABIKE
Final time for aquabike participants will be calculated at BIKE IN. Once you have finished please make your way to the finish line in your own time to collect your medal, grab a drink and return your timing chip.

TIMING
This event will be chip timed by 4 Peaks Racing using triathlon chips. Lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete. Results will be available live at the results kiosk on a big screen TV. Chips should be worn on your left ankle and must be returned at the finish.

Overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in sprint and Olympic as well as top 3 in NCAA. Age group awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers per the following age groups:

Awards will also be given to the top three finishers in the following categories:
