DESCRIPTION:With over 80 miles of trails to choose from\, McDowell Mountain Regional Park is a trail runner’s paradise and our venue for race #5 of the XTERRA Arizona Trail Run Series. The 15 mile long course features a gradual climb full of cholla forests and fields of beaver tails. It is one giant loop with a short out and back down to Dixie Mine (and a treat at the turn around). The shorter 7k course is easily defined by its name\, the Scenic Trail. Following a counterclockwise loop\, the rocky climb at mile 1 will keep you on your toes. DESCRIPTION:Join us and cooler weather on December 15 for the 3rd XTERRA race of our series on the Competitive Loops at Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Consisting almost entirely of single track\, the 8k and 20k courses will challenge beginner and experienced trail runners alike. The courses begin at the park’s competitive loops. Both courses are based at the competitive loops off of Avenida Estrella south of ISM Raceway (Formerly PIR). There are two (or three) major hills and a quite a few twists and turns as the course winds through the valley desert. You finish the last half mile with a wide descent to help propel you across the finish line. DESCRIPTION:No additional obstacles needed on this course; Mother Nature has already done all the work. A challenging 14 mile course gives a sampling of San Tan Regional Park’s 10\,000 acres of Sonoran Desert.  Stroll thru Malpais wash\, barrel down Dynamite\, and (suffer) up and over Goldmine. The 8k course is a little easier on the calves but is challenging just the same. The rolling hills down San Tan\, Hedgehog\, and Moonlight trails brings you through the creosote flats and saguaro forest. An increase in pH is caused by an abundance of algae in the lake typically caused by an increase in the temperature and little to no movement of water through the lake. If the pH does not meet this standard Splash and Dash will be cancelled. Furthermore\, should there be 1/5 of an inch of rain within 24 hours of Splash & Dash the event will be cancelled.
