DESCRIPTION:October 1 Update\nLake Pleasant water temperature this morning is 79F. We will continue to measure water temperature this week and give updates as they are available. USA Triathlon rules state that competitors may wear wetsuits if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower. USAT rules also state that if the water temperature is between 78.1 – 83.9 degrees\, competitors may wear wetsuits but will not be eligible for awards. \nLooks like it is going to be a hot one. If you would like to switch from Olympic distance to sprint or from triathlon to aquabike please let us know. Our permit does not allow for an aid station on the bike course so please plan accordingly. There will be an aid station on the run course every mile with water and Gatorade. \nIn consideration of the weather report we have changed the event start times and awards ceremony. One of the many roles played by USAT is that of insurance provider for this race. As such USAT requires that every participant be either (1) an annual member\, or (2) purchase a one day membership. Vehicles may leave at any time but please be aware cyclists and runners will be on the road. \nRACE TIMING\nThis event will be chip timed by 4 Peaks Racing using triathlon chips. Lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete. Results will be available live at the results kiosk on a big screen TV. Chips should be worn on your left ankle and must be returned at the finish. \nAWARDS\nOverall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in sprint and Olympic as well as top 3 in Mountain Collegiate Conference. Age group awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers per the following age groups:\n10-14\n15-19\n20-24\n25-29\n30-34\n35-39\n40-44\n45-49\n50-54\n55-59\n60-64\n65-69\n70-74\n75-79\n80+\nAwards will also be given to the top three finishers in the following categories:\nAquabike\nDuathlon\nClydesdales (Men 220 +lbs)\nAthenas (Women 165+ lbs)\nRelay \nWETSUIT USE GUIDELINES\nUSAT rules state that competitors may wear wetsuits if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower.\nUSAT rules also state that if the water temperature is between 78.1 – 83.9 degrees\, competitors may wear wetsuits but will not be eligible for awards.\nIf the water temperature is 84 degrees or above\, participants may NOT wear wetsuits. \nCOURSE CUT OFFS\nThere are three cut offs for The Castle Creek Triathlon.\n1) You must have started the bike by 7:45 a.m.\n2) You must start the run by 9:30 a.m.\n3) You must be on the second loop of the run by 10:15 a.m. \nAQUABIKE\nFinal time for aquabike participants will be calculated at BIKE IN. Once you have finished please make your way to the finish line in your own time to collect your medal\, grab a drink and return your timing chip. \nSITE PLAN\n \nSWIM\n \nTRANSITION\nSwim in/Bike in at east end (end closest to the lake)\nBike out/Run out at west end\nThe ground in transition is on the rough side. Feel free to leave flip flops at swim exit \nBIKE\n \nNo water stations. Athletes to self-support on bike\nTraffic is restricted but road not completely closed to traffic. STAY RIGHT! Share the road. Exercise caution\nPlease ride very cautiously from the entry station down the hill to the boat ramp. This section of road will also have runners\nOut and back toward Carefree Highway\nFollow instructions of staff and/or MCSO\nSprint = 2 loop. Olympic = 4 loops\nTurn around\n1. Castle Hot Springs Rd 3.95 miles from north boat ramp\n2. Four lane boat ramp entry station \nRUN\n \nSprint = 1 loop.
